The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has been part of our lives for two years now. It’s possible that during that time a family member, a friend or even you have contracted the virus. Hopefully, the symptoms were relatively minor and you or your loved one recovered quickly. But for many, COVID-19 becomes much more serious. At Advanced Respiratory Care, our goal is to help you understand when your symptoms warrant emergency action.
Emergency COVID Symptoms – Breathing Problems
COVID-19 can cause breathing complications that make you uncomfortable. But there is a difference between feeling uncomfortable and needing emergency care because of breathing issues. Severe cases of COVID may cause you to experience shortness of breath and feel unable to catch your air. COVID-19 can also leave you feeling tightness in your chest or feeling a constant sense of pressure.
However, there are times when your symptoms may not seem so acute and severe but are still very serious and require urgent medical attention. Something as minor as changes in your skin tone may be an indicator that your body is lacking oxygen. If you notice your skin, nailbeds or lips becoming pale, gray or blue, your body isn’t getting enough oxygen.
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you need to seek emergency medical attention immediately!
Emergency COVID Symptoms – Mental Impairment
While most people think of COVID-19 as a virus that impacts the respiratory system, it can also impact your brain and cognitive systems. The virus can cause a high fever, which can cause you to become delirious. If you or a loved one are experiencing these feelings or prolonged confusion, seek emergency aid.
