Electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG)
An electrocardiogram, also known as an ECG or EKG, is a test performed to record the electrical signals in your heart. This test is very common and is most often used to detect heart problems or monitor your hearts health. It is a simple and painless test that can be done multiple places, including Advanced Respiratory Care Network.
You May Need an Electrocardiogram if:
- You have chest pain
- You feel dizzy or light-headed
- You are experiencing heart palpitations
- You have a rapid pulse
- You are experiencing shortness of breath
- You feel weak or get tired easily
What are the Risks?
An ECG is a very safe procedure. There is no risk of shock or injury. The only discomfort you may feel is during the removal of the sticky electrodes. Some people have developed a slight rash where they were placed, but this is rare and very minor.
