Are You Thankful for Good Health?

Enjoy your health now in November, so you can be even stronger in 2020!

It’s common for people to wait until the start of the New Year to get on track with their health. This causes many to throw caution to the wind and practice even unhealthier habits than they do the rest of the year, making it more difficult to get back on track on January first. Can you imagine the good things the next year could hold for you if you ended and started the year strong? Enjoy your health now in November, so you can be even stronger in 2020!

You enjoy your health by taking care of your body. Here’s how:

What does healthy look like?

The definition of healthy may be different to everyone. Generally, it means a state of physical and emotional well-being. If you have good health, you should consider yourself fortunate. Even if you have some ailments, there is likely still one aspect of your health to be grateful for. Healthy may look different to everyone based upon their life experience. It doesn’t necessarily mean to look a certain way, but to feel happy, energized and strong.

Why does it matter?

If you aren’t grateful for your health, you won’t try to maintain it. Being able to move your body is a gift and so is simply being alive! Treat the body that carries you through life well. Taking care of yourself shows respect to you and those who love you. Being healthy physically helps you to show up as the best version of yourself and carries over into your mental state.

Take Healthy Steps

Here are some ways you can show you are grateful for your health. Hint: it’s continuing to take care of YOU.

  • Make a List: Take time to reflect on what your health has allowed you to do this year. What are you grateful to be able to have done this year because of your healthy state?
  • Drink Water: You should be drinking an average of 8, 8-ounce glasses of water each day.
  • Make Your Plate Pop: Your plate should be colorful, filled with a variety of fruits, vegetables, grains and lean meats.
  • Get Some Sleep: Sleep deprivation over a long period can have serious long-term side effects. Be sure you are getting an average of 7 hours each night.
  • Move Your Body: Even if you aren’t able to do something extreme like running in a marathon, simply moving your body daily is a fantastic habit to start. This could be in the form of walking, weight lifting, swimming or even cleaning your house.
  • Eliminate Stress: Don’t take on more than you can handle. Stress can be a significant hindrance to your health.
  • Seek Help: If you are struggling with your health physically or mentally, don’t be afraid to reach out to a healthcare professional. They can help guide you to resources to tackle the challenges you face in your health journey.

Good health is nothing to take for granted and something we should all be working to achieve. If you have questions on how you can help yourself or a loved one live a healthier life, contact us today!
